A long-form multimedia journalism project

“The Rise of the Phoenix” follows multiple figures within the initiative: The Phoenix. By diving into this non-profit organization, we discover the life-changing impacts on the communities of Colorado Springs and Denver, Colorado, both areas suffering greatly with addiction. From yoga to Crossfit to Powerlifting to online events inside prisons, Phoenix has made an impact in local communities and across the country. Through a video, photos and a long-form article, the reader & viewer can experience the “sober active community” model that keeps people coming back and walking the path to recovery.
