Artifact as Emotion is a media production class assignment. As students we were instructed to choose an artifact that means something to us. I chose my handheld video camera— an item that captured so many moments throughout college. I wanted to use its footage to create a project that portrayed in-full, all the elements that give this object importance in my life. While surfing through all the footage, I realized the bulk of it was from one place over the course of three years: Moab, Utah. Moab has been an significant place throughout my college experience, as has the video camera, for the same reason: memories with friends. So, I created a music video where the camera, the footage and even the song (Wot’s…Uh the Deal by Pink Floyd), are the artifact that gives emotions of love, nostalgia and friendship :)
